ARTIST BIO
Chloe Malyshkin (1991) was born in St. Louis Missouri. Her study of Philosophy and Religion at Truman State University in Missouri largely informa her work. When she moved to New York in 2014 her practice in oil paint began, with Acrylic and multimedia to follow. Her current work focuses on music and video production, and makes use of vivid color in Maui, Hawaii. Chloe is participating in the 2024 Canopy Program, a yearlong mentorship intensive.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Chloe Malyshkin’s work involves afrofuturism, glyphs, intentional reflection upon iconography in media, and classic works with astrological commentary as navigation.
Shamanic realism, spiritual channeling, and intuition guides her painting process. As her work taps the pulse of the collective hopes and wishes, Chloe’s artwork merges iconography, consumerism and spiritual insights.
In painting, the experience of ‘seeking’ and ‘seeing’ arises. Memories and existence are processed simultaneously in a way that seeks to emulate the internet, AI, Search Engines, and the many ‘tabs’ we require to process intelligence.
